Knocks Bookies Out Cold Bookies
William
Hill took
a hit on Sunday morning after BBC Sports
personality of the year Joe Calzaghe beat Bernard
Hopkins in Las Vegas. Calzaghe was the
subject of the biggest boxing gamble of the year
with Millions of pounds changing hands at the end
of the fight. William Hill's
biggest winner was from Newport in Gwent who placed
an £18,000 wager at 4/9. Thwe lucky punter
will collect a cheque for £26,000. "When Joe was
knocked down early on we thought we might be saved
a massive payout, but it was not to be and as with
every fight involving Calzaghe we are resigned to a
loss," said William Hill's spokesman Rupert
