19 April
2008 Greenham And
Fred Darling Results Yield Few Guineas
Changes The informative
Guineas trials held at Newbury resulted in an
unexpected small number of changes in the Classic
markets. William
Hill left
John Dunlop's filly Muthabara unchanged at 9-2
after her victory in the Dubai Duty Free (Fred
Darling Stakes), and Greenham winner Paco Boy
gained his first quote of 25-1 for the 2000 Guineas
after news that he would supplement for the May 3rd
Classic. Kate Miller,
spokeswoman for William Hill, said: "Despite unease
in the market beforehand, Muthabara's victory in
the Fred Darling was unsurprising, and she showed
good attitude to win this afternoon. Her best
efforts came in the closing stages, so clearly the
extra furlong will suit, in addition to faster
ground, but we're happy with her price of 9-2 in
what appears to be a competitive year. Paco Boy
caught the eye with an easy win in a Lingfield
Listed race back in March, and his victory at this
level on turf definitely highlights him as a 2000
Guineas candidate." |
