2008 Punchestown
Produces An All Star Line Up Bookmakers
William
Hill have
priced up four of the feature races of next week's
Punchestown festival - the Kerrygold Champion Chase
on Tueday, the Punchestown Guinness Gold on
Wednesday, the Ladbrokes World Series Hurdle on
Thursday, and the ACC Champion Hurdle on
Friday. The Paul
Nicholls' trained Twist Magic heads a list of 10
acceptors for the Grade 1 Kerrygold Champion Chase
on the first day of the Punchestown Festival. The
Tingle Creek winner flopped in the Champion Chase
at the Cheltenham Festival, and his trainer will be
hoping that his charge can bounce back to winning
ways on Tuesday. The 6 year old is the 9-4
favourite for the two mile contest. The Punchestown
Guinness Gold Cup is the feature race on the second
day of the Festival, and last year's winner Neptune
Collonges is the 11-8 favourite for the race. Paul
Nicholls' charge won the race last year, and he'll
be aiming to record back-to-back victories in the
race on Wednesday. The grey will face a maximum of
14 rivals in the race including Mossbank, Kicking
King, Cloudy Lane, and Beef Or Salmon, who will be
retired after the race. Blazing Bailey
and Kazal are the 7-2 joint favourites for the a
competitive looking Ladbrokes World Series Hurdle.
The pair head a list of 17 horses that could line
up in the 3 mile contest. Other notable entries
include the talented novices Cooldine, and
Venalmar. The ACC Bank
Champion hurdle is arguably the race of the week.
Sizing Europe, who flopped in the Smurfit Champion
Hurdle in March, is rated the 5-2 favourite for the
race. The disappointing Cheltenham favourite could
be joined by the 2007 Champion Hurdler Sublimity,
the Aintree Hurdle winner Al Eile, and Punjabi, who
finished third in this year's Smurfit Champion
Hurdle. |
