Baffled By Chelsea Boss Riddle The heavy gamble
on Roberto Mancini to become the next Chelsea
manager has slowed down dramatically, and
William
Hill's
odds have been lengthened from odds-on at 10/11 to
odds-against at 5/4 as support for him dried
up. "hen the big
money came in for Mancini on Wednesday it looked as
though it could be the crucial move in the market."
said William Hill's spokesman Graham
Sharpe. "However, once he
went a shade of odds-on the cash dried up and we
have now eased his odds out, although he remains
favourite. At the moment no-one seems to believe
they know the answer for sure." William Hill make
Mark Hughes 3/1 second favourite, but say that
another former Chelsea favourite, Zola, has been
the biggest mover in the market, cut from 25/1 to
14/1 after a series of relatively modest
bets. "The biggest bet
was just £50, but he started the day as a 25/1
chance having already been nibbled at when 33/1, so
a groundwell of support is building up behind his
chances and he is certainly one of the most popular
and respected of the club's old boys." added
Sharpe. Football fans can
