2008 Eurovision
Song Contest - Finally Money For The UK Bookies
William
Hill have
at last taken their first bet of more than ten
pounds on the UK winning the Eurovision song
contest. The £45 was
placed by a William Hill customer in
Scotland. The bookies are
offering odds of 66/1 that Andy Abraham will go on
to win with less than 1% of the total money
accepted for the UK. William Hill's
odds suggest that that UK has a great chance of
coming last and offer 13/8 that Andy finishes in
the final spot and offer 7/1 that he fails to
attract a single point. "You have to feel
sorry for Andy as he seems a nice chap but he might
rue the day that he entered the Eurovision career
graveyard." said William Hill's spokesman Rupert
Adams. Ireland's entry,
'Dustin The Turkey' proved to be just that, falling
at the first hurdle and failing to get to the final
and Hills are now offering 16/1 that Ireland win in
2009. "There is a fine
line between novelty and disaster, viewers
obviously felt that Dustin was the wrong side of
that line." said William Hill's
spokesman. Rumours persist
that Terry Wogan has finally had enough of
Eurovision and bookmakers have cut the price of
this being Terry's last year from 4/1 to 3/1 and
are 7/4 that Jonathan Ross will be the new face of
the Eurovision. Bet On
