2008 Doh! Homer To
Win The Turner Prize? Bookies
William
Hill have
installed Mark Leckey as their favourite to win the
2008 Turner
Prize
following the announcement of the
shortlist. Mark is the 5/4
favourite and is perhaps best known for using The
Simpsons in his Artworks. William Hill make
the equally unconventional Cathy Wilkes their
second favourite at 9/4 with the outsiders Goshka
Macuga 3/1 and Runa Islam a 6/1 shot. "The Turner prize
is one of the hardest things that we create odds
for but at this early stage we feel that Mark
Leckey is the standout favourite." said William
Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams. The Turner Prize
is an annual prize presented to a British visual
artist under 50, organised by the Tate gallery and
staged at Tate Britain. Since its beginnings in
1984, it has become the United Kingdom's most
publicised and controversial art award. Many art lovers
purchase their artwork online at Art
Republic
who offer thousands of affordable art prints and
posters with free delivery worldwide. |
