Brown Is On Way Out Bookies
William
Hill say
that 99% of the bets they have taken on whether
Gordon Brown will or will not lead the Labour Party
into the next General Election have been for him
not to do so. And they have slashed the odds about
him ceasing to be Prime Minister this year from 5/1
to 3/1. "All we have been
doing is cutting the odds about Gordon Brown
failing to lead Labour into the next Election, and
having at one stage been 8/1 that he would be gone
before the next General Election, we are now
offering just 6/5 about that happening." said
William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe. "In the last
fortnight we have taken virtually no bets at all
for him to be Prime Minister when the next polling
day comes round." Bookies are
offering 8/13 that Mr Brown will still be Labour
Leader on the day of the General
Election. Meanwhile,
William Hill have slashed their odds about the
Conservatives winning the Crewe and Nantwich
by-election later this month from 2/7 to 1/6, with
Labour's odds lengthened from 5/2 to 4/1, with the
Lib Dems quoted at 14/1. |
