2008 Collingwood To
Lose Captaincy Of One Day Side? England one day
captain Paul Collingwood had his second lapse in
judgement inside ten days. Firstly with the
slow over rates in Birmingham and now for his role
in the Grant Elliott run-out controversy which has
prompted bookies William
Hill to
offer 5/1 that he has the Captaincy removed as a
direct result of his behaviour in the Grant Elliott
run-out. "Collingwood will
be horrified when he sees the replays in the cold
light of day and he stands a real chance of losing
the Captaincy. If New Zealand had lost the game we
would be a shorter price for him to go." said
William Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams. In the log term,
the bookies expect Collingwood to be forgiven and
he is the 2/5 favourite to replace Michael Vaughan
as the England Test Captain. England need to
win the final one day at Lords and are the 4/6
favourites to do so with New Zealand offered at
11/10. The erratic Kevin Pietersen is 3/1 to be
England's top batsman is 8/1 to score a hundred but
6/1 to be out for a duck. |
