Casino Beacon > Online Casinos > New Casino Bonuses > Bonus Archive 04 June 2008 Gaming Control Board Awards Grants To Eliminate Illegal Slot Machines The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has approved three new grant requests totaling $387,442 to local law enforcement agencies to fund programs designed to thwart the operation of illegal slot machines in the Commonwealth. This was the fifth round of approvals by the Board under a $5 million annual grant program developed and approved by the Legislature as part of the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. A total of $2,854,782.47 in grants has been awarded to local law enforcement agencies since the Board initiated the program in late 2007. The funding comes from revenues generated from licensed slot machine facilities. "These grants go a long way in helping law enforcement offset the cost of locating illegally operating slot machines and then prosecuting violators," said Gaming Control Board Commissioner and former FBI Agent Kenneth T. McCabe. "At the same time, it's important to note that this funding is not being used to investigate and prosecute violations at private clubs of the small games of chance law, but only unlawful operation of slot machines." |
