2008 Open
Championship Expected To Break Betting
Records Bookies
William
Hill will
not miss Tiger Woods at the 137th Open
championship, as they expect industry turnover to
break the £30 Million pound mark. William Hill have
already seen record early turnover for the Open,
which they attribute to the absence of Tiger Woods,
with punters seeing value all over the
field. "Over the last
few years many of our smaller stake golf punters
have been put off by Tiger Woods and his absence is
likely to stimulated turnover for the Open. We have
high hopes that we will have a record turnover this
year with Garcia and Ernie Els expected to figure
on the final day." said William Hill's spokesman
Rupert Adams. Despite missing
the cut at Loch Lomond, William Hill expect Colin
Montgomerie to figure at the Open and he is 1/2 to
make the cut and 40/1 to win. The bookmakers have
also seen a run of money for Ernie Els as he shows
signs of being back to his best at the Scottish
Open. |
