2008 London 2012 -
An Olympic Record For Gambling Bookmakers
William
Hill say
that £25 million was gambled on the outcome of
the Olympic Games - and predict that at least
double that will be gambled in London
2012. "People who had
never bet before were sprinting into our shops to
back Team GB at the Olympics - the largest bet we
took was one of £40,000. It was easily the
biggest betting Olympics ever, with £25m
gambled, and we already predict that over £50
million will be gambled at London 2012." said
William Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe. William Hill have
opened a book on how many Golds and how many medals
of all types Team GB will win in London
2012. William Hill make
Team GB a 7/4 chance to finish 3rd in the Medals
Table at London 2012. The bookies offer
odds of 1/2 that Team GB will go one or more
better, and win 20 or more Golds in 2012; 6/4 that
they will get 19 or less. Team GB are 1/6
to beat this year's tally and get 48 or more medals
in 2012 and 1/4 to get 50 or more. And they are 7/2
to get 47 or fewer medals and 11/4 to get 49 or
fewer. |
