2008 Vegas And
Packers Disagree About Favre's
Impact The sports world
has followed the saga of Brett Favre's return to
the NFL. Now, RJ Bell of Pregame.com reveals how
his trade to the Jets has significantly affected
New York's Las Vegas odds this season. Prior to the
trade, the Jets were 40-1 to win the Super Bowl -
meaning that $100 bet on the Jets would have won
$4,000. After the trade, the odds moved immediately
to 30-1, reducing the payoff by 25%. Prior to the
trade, the Jets were projected to win 7 games.
After the trade, the projection on New York's wins
was increased by 1.5 games to 8.5. It's interesting
to not that if the Jets play to projection, they
would still likely not make the
playoffs. Prior to the
trade, the Jets Week 1 match-up at Miami had New
York as a 2.5-point favorite. After the trade, the
point spread moved to Jets minus 3. "Las Vegas is
saying that Brett Favre is still a difference
maker. The Packers disagreed. When in doubt it's
smart to assume Vegas is right." said RJ Bell of
Pregame. |
