Kikikolt And Connors Dragon Head Betting

The well backed Irish raider KikiKolt landed the £6000 Crock Of Gold Final at Tir Prince Harness track on Monday night in the hands of trainer/driver John Richardson and earned a quote of 3-1 joint favourite with the sponsors for the William Hill British Pacing Championship, which starts this Friday night at Wolverhampton.

Showing more manoeuvres than Lewis Hamilton, KikiKolt, the even money favourite appeared to be in an impossible position leaving the back straight, but stayed on strongly to overhaul the Paul Holden trained The Big Guy by a half length in a time of 1.58.9.

Whilst KikiKolt turns out again on the polytrack at Wolverhampton this Friday night in heat one of the £25,000 competition, Hills have also installed UK champion Connors Dragon as the other 3-1 joint favourite, who runs a week on Saturday in heat three.

The competition has attracted the top 36 top pacers from all over the UK & Ireland and Welsh TV Channel S4C covering the Crock of Gold meeting carried the draw for the three heats live on Monday night. All eight Crock of Gold finalists are engaged in the William Hill event, and it was a case of déjà-vu as the first three home in Mondays final all drew together again in the opening Wolverhampton heat this Friday. Hills quote The Big Guy at 8-1 outright and third placed US import He Is For Real a 12-1 chance. leading UK pacer Connors Dragon will be a short price to land heat three (20th September) as long as he can put a rare lacklustre performance in the Crock Of Gold Final behind him, when he was sent on early by driver Steve Lees to try and recover from the unfavourable draw position of 8, running too freely with fractions of 27.4 and 58.5 for the first half mile and folding to finish sixth.

Bouyed by the success of KikiKolt, the Irish entry for the Hills event is exceptionally strong with a supporting cast which includes recent Dundalk polytrack winners, Western Jackpot, Toms the Man and Bon Commotion. London is represented by Clemtex and River Inny, whilst Scottish Champion Crown Manhattan comes South of the border, whilst another Tir prince winner on Monday, Lyons Mach 1, shattered the track record in the nights finale in 1.57.6. The first four from each Heat for the qualify Final on Friday 26th September and the whole championship will be live on ATR and SIS.
