William Hill's Irish spokesman Tony Kenny commented: "Brian Lenihan is in a no win situation and there are millions of people going to be affected by his budget, and we think smokers and drinkers are among the people who will be left fuming after his speech." William Hill are also betting on what colour suit and tie that the Minister of Finance will wear during his hard hitting budget speech. They think that he'll wear a green tie and a black or charcoal coloured suit. The bookmakers also offer odds of 33/1 that he'll brighten the public's mood by wearing a canary/yellow suit - similar to the one worn by Bertie Ahern during the 2004 G8 summit. With the feelings expected to be running high during the Budget speech - the bookies are also betting on how many times the Ceann Comhairle - John O'Donoghue will call for order during the speech. William Hill make 0-2 times 7/4, 3-5 times 6/4, and 6 or more 2/1. They also offer odds of 5/1 that a TD will be ejected from the Dail during the Budget speech. Tony Kenny said: "Tensions are sure to be running high in the Dail during Brian Lenihan's speech and we're expecting to see fireworks from both sides of the house” He continued “John O'Donoghue is a no nonsense Ceann Comhraile and we expect him to take no prisoners if any of the opposition step out of line." |
