The line-up is headed by the much hyped Rip Van Winkle - who is William Hill's 11-8 favourite for the race. The current favourite for next year's guineas is one of eight horses that Aidan O'Brien has left in the race, the others being Drumbeat, Egypt, Gluteus Maximus, Indian Ocean, Masterofthehorse, Set Sail and Westphalia. Others notable entries include the runner-up in the National Stakes Shaweel and David Wachman's dual Group 1 winner Bushranger. William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny said: "There are several horses that have better two year old form than Rip Van Winkle this season and the only reason that he is favourite for next year's guineas is because of his lofty home reputation” He continued “On Saturday he has the chance to show that he's the real deal and win in the Dewhurst would also guarantee his status as the winter favourite for the guineas." |
