2008 Lewis Hamilton
Wins Formula 1 Championship Lewis
Hamilton
survived an extremely tense end to the
Formula
1
Championship, despite finishing 5th and Felipe
Massa wining the Brazilian Grand Prix. A late-race rain
shower looked set to rob Lewis Hamilton of the
title after a stop for wet tyres dropped him to
sixth. However, the 23-year-old McLaren driver
passed Toyota's Timo Glock as they entered the pit
straight. Briton Hamilton
becomes the youngest ever Formula 1 World
Champion. Ferrari have won
the Constructors Championship. Bookies
William
Hill had
said they were "staring down the barrel of a
multi-million pound payout" prior to the race. The
bookies have estimated that the industry will be
paying out up to five million pounds, with one
William Hill from Kent collecting £10,000 from
just a £100 bet place on Hamilton in
2003. "Hamilton had
been backed by half of the UK and we've had a
hammering." said William Hill's spokesman Rupert
Adams. Try your luck at
