2008 Twist
Favourite For Some Exeter Magic The
National
Hunt
season steps up another gear at Exeter with the
William
Hill Gold
Cup. The race has a
tremendous recent history with Flagship Uberalles,
Best Mate, Edredon Bleu and Azertyuiop all
featuring on the roll of honour. Champion Trainer
Paul Nicholls looks to maintain his excellent start
to the season with a fourth win of the prestigious
prize, and his crack chaser Twist Magic heads the
market with the sponsors as William Hill's 2-1
favourite. The triple Grade One winner will concede
weight to the entire field, including 7-2
second-favourite Mahogany Blaze who will look to
progress on some of his excellent novice form from
last season for in-form trainer Nigel
Twiston-Davies. Natal, a 1¾
runner-up to Twist Magic at Punchestown last time
out will be partnered by promising conditional Nick
Schofield, who takes a further 5lbs off the 10lbs
he will receive from the Tingle Creek winner. The
bookies make Natal the 9-2 third-favourite, with
Howle Hill - winner of the valuable William Hill
Handicap at Doncaster in February available at
5-1. Kate Miller,
spokeswoman for William Hill, said: "This
particular race has a fantastic history and it is
testament to its place in the calendar that Paul
Nicholls is fielding two of his top chasers for
this year's renewal. Twist Magic looks the class of
the race, with a trio of Grade Ones already on his
CV, but this is no easy task and he attempts to
concede weight all round. It should prove an
intriguing betting contest and will also give some
valuable clues for the season to come." Try your luck at
