Casino Beacon > Online Casinos > New Casino Bonuses > Bonus Archive 15 January 2009 Cumani Aiming For William Hill Lincoln Honours A fantastic renewal of the William Hill Lincoln appeared on the horizon when the first leg of the Spring double attracted 115 entries. Race sponsors William Hill appointed joint-favourites at the head of the betting, making Luca Cumani's Cambridgeshire third Swop the 10/1 favourite, along with John Gosden's lightly-raced Expresso Star. The Clarehaven trainer is also responsible for 12/1 second-favourite Charm School whose eye-catching run over seven furlongs at Doncaster last time out gave every indication that an assault on the Lincoln might be imminent. Last year's winner Smokey Oakey looks set to defend his crown for actress Judi Dench and her co-owner Brian Agar. William Hill make the bay gelding a 20/1 chance to become the first horse to notch up back-to-back wins since Babur achieved the double in the 1950's. The William Hill Lincoln would not be complete without the line-up of 2006 winner Blythe Knight (20/1) who finished a brave runner-up to Smokey Oakey in last year's renewal. The nine-year-old is now entering his seventh year of training, but a Listed win, and victory in the Diomed Stakes confirm that John Quinn's runner remains competitive on the flat. Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, said: "Let's get ready for a feast on the first day of the flat season! Along with the Lincoln we have now completed a deal to sponsor the Roseberry card at Kempton, making it a William Hill launch to the Flat season with a competitive double-header. We're delighted with the entries for this year's Lincoln which include a number of top yards and two previous winners. There are none wilier than Luca Cumani, and it is testament to his training abilities that we make Swop a co-favourite in such a competitive line-up." The William Hill Lincoln meeting takes place on the 28th and 29th of March, with the weights for the Lincoln revealed on Wednesday January the 21st. |
