Newcastle v Sunderland - Betting Odds

Knowing how he loves a bit of effin' and blindin', Joe Kinnear will probably have shocked Roy Chubby Brown after losing three more players to injury to the Newcastle curse in the defeat to Manchester City.

The losses of Joey Barton and Danny Guthrie will have been tempered by the arrival of Kevin Nolan but Owen's absence leaves the side relying on the none too reliable Lualua and youngster Andy Carroll for some much needed firepower. On top of this, Kinnear has to deal with wantaway stars Given and N'Zogbia - neither of whom will feature in the Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland. Oh and there's the small matter of a relegation battle.

We're not sure if Newcastle is cursed or not but if they don't get anything out of this match, there'll be plenty of cursing going on.

Bookies Paddy Power have priced up their odds for this match and they indicate that it could be a close encounter. They have Newcastle ahead as slight favourites at 6/4 (2.5) with Sunderland available at 9/5 (2.8). You can back a draw at odds of 9/4 (3.25).

You can watch the match live on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday at 1.30pm.

Betting Odds (Paddy Power)
