The feature event of UFC 93 is the light heavyweight bout between former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich 'Ace' Franklin and the former PRIDE middleweight Champion Dan 'Hendo' Henderson. The bout is one of the most intriguing matches in the history of UFC and bookmakers William Hill can't split the pair. The firm make Franklin 5-6 and Henderson 5/6. The co-main event of evening is the match between two former PRIDE fighters in Mark 'The Hammer' Coleman and Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua. The pair fought in PRIDE 31, but the fight was stopped after Rua suffered a dislocated elbow. The bookmakers think that the Brazilian will get his revenge in UFC 93 and they make Rua 1/4 favourite, while Coleman can be backed at 11/4. Marcus Davis, who is named the 'Irish hand grenade' is sure to have the backing of the sell-out Irish crowd in his fight against Chris Lytle. Former boxer Davis is the 4/5 favourite for the fight. Elsewhere, UFC newbie Denis Kang is the 4/11 favourite to beat veteran Alan Belcher, while Brazilian Rousimar "Toquinho" Palhares is the 2/9 favourite to beat American Jeremy Horn. Another interesting fight on the night is the match between Irishman Tom Egan and Englishman John Hathaway. The Dubliner is assured to have the crowd on his side, but William Hill still make Egan the 5-4 underdog for the main fight on the prelim card. William Hill's spokesman Tony Kenny said: "MMA fans have been crying out for this fight for the last three or four years, but I suppose it's better late than never” He continued “We're expecting the main event to be a real barn stormer. On paper the two look very closely matched and we cant split the pair." |
