Casino Beacon > Online Casinos > New Casino Bonuses > Bonus Archive 26 January 2010 Bookies Bet On Blundering Bob's Election Boob Bob Ainsworth's latest gaffe has led to punters speculating whether the nation will be going to the polls on May 6th or if the date is just a red herring for David Cameron and the Conservatives. Paddy Power is now offering just 2/5 (1.4) that 'Blundering Bob' is correct about the Election date whilst its 7/4 (2.75) it proves to be a ruse to put off the Tories in favour of an earlier date. May had proved the most popular month expected for an Election with Paddy Power facing a payout of close to £20,000 if the May 6th date proves correct. May 6th ticks a lot of historical boxes, falling as it does on a Thursday in early summer, which Labour will be hoping will boost the turnout figures. Paddy Power offer 5/2 (3.5) that the electoral turnout is higher than 70% for the first time since 1997, a 65-70% turnout is the 11/8 (2.37) favourite whilst a repeat of the last election with a turnout of 60-65% is 9/4 (3.25). Darren Haines, spokesman for Paddy Power, said: "Punters had been suspecting a May Election for quite some time - now it's just a question on whether Bob was blundering or bluffing." One eye will also be on the weather that day and Paddy Power offer odds of 6/4 (2.5) that it rains in London on a May 6th election day to put a dampener on a Labour turnout, whilst its 5/1 the thermometer reaches a balmy 21-23 degrees celsius. Whilst Ainsworth claimed the electorate would rue the day if they return a Conservative government, Paddy Power are also speculating whether it will be Ainsworth left ruing May 6th with betting on his Coventry North East constituency. The Defence Minister is 8/1 to lose his seat but looks relatively safe at 1/25 (1.04) for a win. |
