Top The Charts? Bookies
Paddy
Power are
offering odds of 20/1 that racing's charity single
'Cheltenham' reaches number one in the UK singles
chart. The song, a
re-working of Petula Clark's famous 1964 smash hit
'Downtown' has been reworded by original writer of
the tune Tony Hatch and has the likes of champion
jockey A P McCoy, Barry Geraghty Paul Nicholls all
on board along with top trainers and pundits such
as Paul Nicholls, Nicky Henderson, Derek Thompson
and John McCririck. In Ireland, whose
racing names have also contributed their vocals,
the song is 16/1 to hit the top of the
charts. A Paddy Power
spokesperson said: "If this song becomes a chart
topper then our opening odds will have looked as
out of place as a donkey in the Cheltenham Gold
Cup. But for such good causes we hope we're proven
wrong and it turns out that A P McCoy and Big Mac
have the voices of angels." You are likely to
