Hero Niche Market Has Serious Chance Bob Buckler has
stated that he thinks Irish Grand National hero
Niche Market, who is a 20/1 chance with
Paddy
Power for
the English Grand National, has a very serious
chance at Aintree in April after the nine-year-old
was among the 111 entries revealed. The Presenting
gelding was last seen in action when fifth to
Carruthers in a graduation chase at Newbury in
December over three miles five furlongs less than
the greatest day of his life when winning at
Fairyhouse last April. Buckler said: "I
was a bit disappointed with him at Newbury. Maybe
he wasn't fullly switched on but he's absolutely
fine and it all just happened a bit quick for
him.He's a relentless galloper and the trip was a
bit short around a flat track. But he's gone there
and the National cries out. He might go for a
graduation chase at Exeter on Sunday week if the
ground is not too heavy. Then probably the William
Hill Trophy at Cheltenham and then the Grand
National at Aintree. A trip brings out the best in
him and he thrives on that and I think good to soft
is his best ground." Asked about his
memories of winning the Irish Grand National, the
Somerset trainer said: "I think that it almost
means more as there is such a wonderful atmosphere
in Ireland at the races and among the people
involved in the sport. They love a good horse
winning and although the Irish might not have been
quite so happy at us winning, they were so generous
with their congratulations. I think that he has a
very serious chance in the National. Obviously you
have got the National factor of not knowing what
happens in the race. But as a horse he is made for
it he has proved that he stays long trips and jumps
well. The National is made for him and he's crying
out for the National." Tricky Trickster
heads Paddy Powers's market at 16/1 with a swathe
of horses, including Niche Market, on 20/1. State
Of Play is a 33/1 chance. A Paddy Power
spokesperson said: "We're still 16/1 the field for
the Grand National at the moment so if punters have
a fancy that they know is an intended runner all
being well, now might be the time to nick a bit of
value from us." You are likely to
