Update
and Blog - Friday, 13 August 2010 It's Friday the
13th! Aaaargh! So far, so good - nothing too
horrible has happened. Well, apart from the usual
pile of spam arriving from dubious online casinos
who don't want to market responsibly. Spam
For Breakfast, Spam For Lunch, Spam For
Dinner We recently had
to stop promoting two online casinos as a result of
their spam - Ruby
Fortune
and Spin
Palace.
We've been receiving loads of e-mail spam promoting
these two casinos (both owned by the same group)
and it hasn't shown any sign of stopping. It's
pretty gutting that these casinos have crossed over
to the dark side - they've been in the online
casino industry for a long time and had previously
upheld very high marketing standards. We have reported
the above casinos to eCOGRA
(e-Commerce Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance)
and recommended that they be removed from their
approved casino list. To date, eCOGRA have not
done so. eCOGRA are supposed to act as an
independent intermediary between casinos and
players when a dispute arises. They should also
show leadership and responsibility when accepting
new casino members. If a member casino starts to
act irresponsibly (and illegally) then action must
be taken without a lengthy delay. We'll keep you
posted on what action, if any, eCOGRA take
against the spamming casinos. Some action
MUST be taken. Spam damages the reputation of
our entire industry and we can do without
it. Live
Dealers (Sort Of) Betfair have
added a new category of games called Read Deal to
their online casino. Found under the 'Arcade'
section of their website, Real Deal introduces six
new exclusive casino games that Betfair claim will
"revolutionise the industry." Real Deal has
been two years in development at Betfair's gaming
labs and they believe that the games demonstrate
the future of online casinos. The six new Real
Deal games are European Blackjack, Vegas Blackjack,
Pontoon, European Roulette, Baccarat and Money
Wheel. Real Deal is all about virtual dealers. We
tried to play all six Real Deal games and results
were mixed. The laptop we were using isn't exactly
brand new but it's not creaking at the edges either
and some of the games were quite slow. Even worse,
a couple of them wouldn't work at all. So is Real Deal
any good? We'd like to say it WILL be good but
perhaps there are a few teething problems to work
out first. It's probably advisable to try these
games only on a hi-spec PC or laptop as the games
clearly don't perform well on anything less. We'll
be checking in with the Real Deal games again in
the near future to see how they're
performing. We have reported
in detail on the Real Deal games - Click
