The rest of the sign-up process at Mr Green requires your name, address, birthdate and a tick to agree to the casino's terms and conditions. You will be given an opportunity to set deposit, wagering or loss limits to your account.
Mr Green launched on 31 May 2008. Players are accepted in most countries. Mr Green is licensed in Malta and the United Kingdom.
Mr Green's image and brand is interesting, especially when compared against hundreds of bland, all-too-similar online casinos. Mr Green has his own personality and appears to be a strange character - follow his exploits in newsletters, on Mr Green's website and during promotions.
Mr Green has won several awards including 'Casino Brand of the Year' (2014) and 'Customer Services Operator of the Year' (2013) by EGR Magazine, 'Best Online Casino' (2013) by InternetWorld Magazine and 'Socially Responsible Operator of the Year' (2012, EGR). Mr Green sponsor Irish Premier League football team Bohemian FC (the oldest Irish league club) for the 2014 season.
A first deposit will qualify for Mr Green's first deposit bonus - 100% up to £100. You can accept or decline this bonus when you make your first deposit. See examples below.
You will need to wager x35 the bonus amount before you can process a withdrawal.
How to claim your Mr Green welcome bonus
Players can claim Mr Green's welcome bonuses by depositing by any accepted payment method including credit and debit card (Visa/MasterCard), bank transfer, Neteller and Skrill/Moneybookers. You can also buy credit by Paysafecard at any local outlet, ie. your local newsagent and deposit with it at Mr Green. No matter what your deposit method, you'll be entitled to claim a welcome bonus if it's your first deposit.
Once you select your preferred deposit method you will be asked if you want to accept the deposit bonus and increase your new balance (see right). If you take the welcome bonus, it will be instantly credited to your player account and available to use on eligible games, which is everything excluding table games (blackjack and roulette), video poker and 'Other Games' category. Mr Green does not prevent you from playing ineligible games such as roulette or blackjack but these bets won't contribute toward the wager requirement.
If your first deposit at Mr Green is £100 or more you can claim the maximum £100 first deposit bonus, giving you a starting balance of at least £200 and a wagering requirement of £3500 (£100 bonus x35). Every bet you make, regardless of whether it's a win or loss, will count towards the wager requirement and once you've reached the required amount you will be free to cashout any amount - there is no maximum amount you can win with deposit bonuses at Mr Green Casino.
If you don't like the sound of wagering requirements or ineligible games then you can decline the deposit bonus and play any game at Mr Green and cash out your winnings whenever you want.
Many online casinos offer a 'reload bonus' on your first deposit of the month, even if you've accepted a 'first deposit' bonus in the past. Other casinos go a step further and offer a reload bonus on every deposit you make. Then there are casinos who don't offer any reload bonuses. Mr Green lives up to his reputation of being a quirky bugger and doesn't do any of these.
Mr Green Casino frequently run reload bonuses during seasonal events such as Christmas, New Year and Father's Day. Check your inbox around these dates as Mr Green will notify players if there's a reload bonus promotion. At other times, you will find out if there's a reload bonus when you make a deposit.
We've deposited at Mr Green Casino many times and although haven't keep a strict record, we'd estimate that deposit bonuses have been offered to us at least 75% of the time. Perhaps we've been lucky with dates but a reload bonus of 50% up to £100 seems to be the usual deal, although we've heard of reload bonuses of between 30% to 50% being offered.
Mr Green tell us that reload bonuses when offered will depend previous playing activity. With every reload bonus we've been offered, it's been the same deal - 50% of your deposit up to a maximum £100 bonus. Mr Green's standard wagering requirement of bonus x35 will apply. For example, depositing £50 and accepting a £25 reload bonus would mean a wagering requirement of £875 (£25 x 35) before being able to cashout winnings made from the bonus money.
Mr Green Casino reload bonuses are not subject to maximum cashout terms.
Mr Green can be an unpredictable fellow (and proud of it!) yet Mr Green Casino's wagering requirements are refreshingly straightforward and easy to understand, especially when compared against many of Mr Green's rivals.
Mr Green offers a variety of free money bonuses. These are optional and come with 'wagering/playthrough requirements', meaning you have to gamble a minimum amount before being able to cashout any winnings. All bonuses at Mr Green have a bonus x35 wagering requirement, meaning the amount of your bonus must be wagered 35 times before you can withdraw. This isn't a bad deal when compared to other online casinos.
Slots and scratch cards count 100% towards the wagering requirement. Other games can be played with bonus money but will not contribute towards the requirement. There is no maximum stake to worry about when playing with bonus money.
It doesn't matter whether your bets are wins or losses, they all count towards the target. If you have two spins on a slot game at £2 a spin, you will have completed £4 towards the total required, regardless of whether you won anything with the spins.
You can easily check your progress at any time by clicking on 'bonuses' in your player account (see right) to see how much you've wagered and how much is left to complete. Once you've cleared this amount, you will be free to use your balance on any of Mr Green's games in any category.
Only slots and scratch cards contribute 100% towards the x35 wager requirement. Players who want complete freedom over what games can be played and when cashouts can be made are advised to decline free money bonuses.
Getting a kicking? Run away!
If you've accepted a deposit bonus at Mr Green Casino and the betting isn't going your way, you can cancel everything and get your deposit back. This is an unusual offer and not something we've seen at many online casinos. It can be useful if luck has deserted you and it's obvious you're not likely to meet the wagering requirement, losing both your deposit and bonus. You can contact Mr Green's customer support and ask them to remove the bonus and return your deposit to you. This is only an option if you haven't already spent any of the bonus money.
In 2013, Mr Green Casino announced its 'VIP Lounge', an invitation-only VIP club for players depositing £7,000+ or wagering £80,000+ in a two month period. VIP Lounge benefits include monthly cashback, VIP promotions and bonuses, exclusive prizes and a dedicated account manager. Mr Green will be in touch if you qualify for entry to the VIP Lounge, or you can ask them to be considered if you are already a VIP member of another online casino.
Other than the VIP Lounge, Mr Green do not have a standard loyalty program so there are no 'comp points' to earn as you play. This is not standard for a modern online casino. We'd like to see Mr Green introduce a player reward system soon and there are signs this could be on its way.
To compensate for the lack of a loyalty program, Mr Green regularly credit active members with no deposit required spins on new slot games.
300 casino games, instantly playable in your PC or Mac browser
There are more than 300 games available at Mr Green Casino, provided by Bally, Evolution, IGT (WagerWorks), Microgaming, Net Entertainment, NYX and others. There's no download required, you play the games in your browser. Mr Green is Mac-friendly. There's also a mobile version with roughly 100 games.
The selection and variety of games at Mr Green is impressive and constantly expanding. Play roulette, blackjack, poker and slots (including a couple of exclusive titles). You can play against Mr Green's own live dealers - three card poker, roulette and blackjack.
There are several versions of roulette at Mr Green including American, European, French, Expert/High Roller, 3 Wheel and more. Blackjack players can enjoy different varieties of the game from a basic, standard version to professional/VIP blackjack. Other table games available at Mr Green include craps, punto banco and red dog.
Mr Green has a good mix of standard and advanced blackjack games plus a good selection of live dealer tables. Other than the live dealer games, all blackjack at Mr Green can be played for fun as well as real money.
The blackjack options at Mr Green include Standard, Professional (with VIP and High Roller versions), DoubleXposure and Mini Blackjack, all by NetEnt who also provide Blackjack Touch for mobile/tablet players.
The standard blackjack game is decent enough and includes usual betting options such as insurance, double down and split pairs. You can play up to five hands/boxes each betting round with stakes from £1 to £40. Standard blackjack is played with four decks of 52 cards.
The three versions of Professional Blackjack each has its own permitted stakes. Professional is available to play from just 10p up to £200 per hand. Professional VIP stakes are £50 to £2500 which weirdly is considerably higher than the High Roller version with stakes between £5 and £500. All three versions of Professional Blackjack at Mr Green have three boxes and are played with four decks of cards.
DoubleXposure is a typical blackjack game with an interesting twist - you get to see both the dealer's starting cards. The price you pay for this advantage is you'll lose all ties, except tied blackjack. DoubleXposure is played using six decks, up to three boxes playable at stakes from 10p to £200 each.
There are more than ten different versions of roulette at Mr Green including some live dealer games that we'll highlight later in this review. Mr Green's roulette collection consists of five games by NetEnt and four from IGT and include advanced features such as save your favourite bet patterns, hot and cold number stats and other helpful statistics for enhanced gameplay.
To locate Mr Green's roulette games, click 'All Games' in the top menu then 'Roulettes' in the left menu. The different versions have varied betting limits to suit most players with straight bets on a single number starting at just 10p. Big spenders can go wild with stakes up to £3000 on some IGT games.
Aside from the usual roulette versions found at Mr Green, one worth checking out is 3 Wheel Roulette by IGT. This is roulette with a difference - three wheels are spun at the same time (see screenshot, right). Each bet made places three chips, one chip per wheel so you've got three chances of winning on each spin.
What really makes 3 Wheel Roulette exciting is an optional side bet too tempting to ignore. The 'Colour Up Bonus' pays extra if any of six special events occur, eg. if all three wheels spin in the same colour (red or black) you'll win a 'colour match' bonus of x2 your stake. Spin in zero on two of the three wheels for a x25 bonus, hit zero on all three wheels and you'll get a x1200 payout.
Slots make up the bulk of Mr Green's catalogue with almost 300 slots from Bally, IGT, Microgaming, NetEnt, NextGen and other suppliers. It's a comprehensive and diverse collection containing popular online classics and the latest big releases. Mr Green has two exclusive slots by NetEnt, available only to Mr Green players. The modestly titled The Marvellous Mr Green was released in 2014 and in 2015 Mr Green Moonlight was added.
Mr Green hasn't split it's slots into sub-categories but you can easily search for your favourites by name. New slots are added regularly so there's always a new game to play. There's a good selection of classic three and five reel slots, '243/1024 ways to win' games and slots with bonus rounds/free spins features. Mr Green's official branded slots include Aliens, Game of Thrones, Jurassic park, Scarface and Terminator 2.
Mr Green's slots can be played for free at the casino's website, no registration required. Real money stakes start at just 10p a spin on most slots, increasing to hundreds of pounds a spin for players with deep pockets.
Win an online slot jackpot and it could change your year. Win a Mr Green Casino progressive jackpot and it could change your life. There are roughly 20 games with progressive jackpots at Mr Green provided by IGT, Microgaming and NetEnt.
One downside to playing progressive jackpot games at Mr Green Casino is that if you do hit a big win and want to withdraw £100,000 or more then the casino will divide the payout into ten equal instalments, paid over ten months. Most online casinos don't apply payout terms to progressive jackpot wins so it's a bit tight.
Mr Green launched live dealer games in 2013. As well as roulette, blackjack and baccarat, Mr Green offer live dealer texas hold'em and three card poker, played against the casino's male and female dealers. Although relatively new to the live dealer scene, Mr Green's offering is a cut above most of the competition. Stakes start at 50p.
Mr Green has done an excellent job with its live casino. The dealers are friendly and entertaining. The visuals are clear and the connection is solid, meaning you shouldn't ever miss a bet.
Mr Green's live dealer games are accessible from your usual Mr Green player account. Click 'Live Games' in the game navigation to access roulette, blackjack and baccarat, as well as poker and auto-roulette.
There is a good selection of games, dealers and stakes. Roulette stakes range from 50p. You can also play at two live auto-roulette tables from just 50p. All live dealer roulette games at Mr Green Casino are 'single zero'.
There are always lots of active blackjack tables when we log in with plenty of spare tables/dealers available, so you're almost certain to find the game you want at your preferred stake, which isn't always the case at some live dealer casinos. Blackjack stakes range from £5 to £5000 a hand.
Baccarat is less popular with UK players but it's an easy game to pick up, with Mr Green telling players, "don't be intimidated". There are two live dealer baccarat tables at Mr Green, with stakes from £1 to £2000.
Hold'em poker can be played from 50p to £7,500. You'll be sat at the table with other Mr Green members, but their hands won't affect yours in any way. It's you against the dealer.
There's one three card poker table with stakes from £1-£10,000.
Mr Green's live dealer games can be viewed via different camera angles. For example, you can zoom in on the roulette wheel during a spin, and then return to the main table view to place your bets.
Whilst you're playing Mr Green's live dealer games, you can also play 'mini games' at the same time - slots, scratch cards, roulette and blackjack.
The atmosphere generated by a live dealer can make or break the experience for players. Lots of casinos get this wrong, with disinterested dealers monotonously announcing the results with a 'kill me now' expression. It doesn't make for fun gambling, even if you're winning.
Fortunately, the live dealers at Mr Green are some of the best we've encountered at any live casino. The dealers talk freely and show plenty of their own personality. Jimmy the Scot on roulette and James on hold'em poker (see right) are two talented dealers worth a mention.
The selection of dealers at Mr Green is a good mix of British and English-speaking European. You can choose to play with a male or female dealer.
Your dealer will welcome you by name when you join a table. You can chat with your dealer via a 'live chat' window, which can be switched off if you don't want to see other players' chat.
Mr Green's live casino provides an enjoyable live gaming experience with chatty, enthusiastic dealers. The inclusion of hold 'em and three card poker, on top of the usual roulette, blackjack and baccarat, adds to the overall package. Remembering to offer male and female dealers is another positive move.
The live dealer casino industry is competitive and becoming more so all the time. Mr Green is one of the newest entrants to the market, launching its live dealer games on 23 May 2013, hitting the ground running with an excellent product that already outshines most of the established competition.
Try it, you'll enjoy it.
Mr Green does not offer a download version of the casino - log in to your account and do it all in your browser, including playing all games, depositing, cashing out and anything involving your account.
As with many 'no download' casinos, Mr Green is Mac-friendly. There's no mention of mac-compatibility on Mr Green's website but Mr Green's customer support have confirmed to us that the casino will work on any Mac and with any browser. Mac players have access to all Mr Green's standard welcome bonuses.
Mr Green's mobile casino is compatible with iOS 5.0 and Android 4.0 or later.
Mr Green's website includes a live feed of the latest winners - not just big wins but any payout of five pounds or more, so you may have to watch the feed for a while before seeing a huge win.
Mr Green do not have a winners archive of the most impressive wins but Mr Green's blog does include announcements of competition winners and jackpot wins. We report some big UK wins at Mr Green on the Beacon News page.
Deposit and cashout/withdrawal methods
Banking options include credit/debit card, PayPal, Neteller, Paysafecard and Skrill/Moneybookers. Mr Green allow you to set a personal weekly deposit limit in terms of the risk you wish to take.
Mr Green Casino accept seven deposit methods including PayPal and offer six ways to cashout your winnings. UK players pay no banking fees when depositing/withdrawing by any method.
All banking options at Mr Green qualify for a first deposit bonus up to £100.
Most players deposit by credit or debit card but there are other options including PayPal and other popular e-wallets Skrill/Moneybookers, Neteller and ClickandBuy. You can even pop to a local shop and pay for your deposit with cash via a Paysafecard, which despite its name, doesn't require a card.
When logged into your Mr Green player account you will see a prominent 'deposit' button. Conveniently, Mr Green have thought to include a deposit button when you open a game, meaning you don't have to exit a game if you need to top up your balance.
Paysafecard and MasterCard are not available as withdrawal options. If you deposit via these methods you will need to use an alternative method when you cashout. Visa cards can be used for withdrawals. See 'Withdrawing at Mr Green' (below).
Select 'transaction history' in your Mr Green account to view your recent banking transactions and keep track of your profit/loss. You can see up to three months previous deposits and withdrawals.
In addition to your banking history you can also see the results of past gaming sessions. You can see information about game rounds for the last two months.
Mr Green allow players to set three different "Green Gaming" limits, meaning you can only deposit, wager or lose up to the limits you have set. These limits last for a week and you can lower them further at any time, but increases don't take effect until the coming Monday.
The minimum deposit by Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card is £10. There is no maximum deposit amount unless using a Maestro when a £600 deposit limit applies. The funds will be playable instantly.
Pay via PayPal, Moneybookers/Skrill or Neteller and the minimum deposit is just £1, which is great for when you get the itch to play but only have a few pounds to spare - deposit a fiver and bet micro-stakes, they can lead to surprisingly profitable gaming sessions. ClickandBuy is also an option, with deposits from £10.
Deposits by PayPal, Skrill, Neteller or ClickandBuy are immediately in your Mr Green account and there's no maximum deposit, except for ClickandBuy deposits which are limited to £1000 per transaction.
Paysafecard is an interesting deposit option and one we didn't try until quite recently because the name implied (to us, anyway) yet another e-wallet with a debit card, but we were wrong. Paysafecard is actually a piece of paper, not a card.
Lots of shops, newsagents and supermarkets sell Paysafecard credit and it works much like topping up a PAYG mobile phone. There is a handy sales outlet finder on Paysafecard's website. Ask in the shop for Paysafecard for whatever amount you want from as little as £1 and with no maximum limit.
You can pay for your Paysafecard credit with cash or a debit/credit card. You'll be given a printed voucher containing your 16-digit voucher number to enter at Mr Green's site. You can use all of your balance or just part of it and it'll be playable instantly, saving any unused balance for a later time.
Clicking 'withdrawal' in your Mr Green account will display your available cashout options. The minimum withdrawal amount by any method is £30 and all cashouts are approved within 17 hours, including on weekends. Mr Green do not deduct or charge any withdrawal fees.
If you're lucky enough to hit a big win and want to withdraw £100,000 or more then Mr Green will divide the payout into ten equal instalments, paid over ten months. For example, cashout £100,000 and you will get £10,000 a month for the next ten months. There's nothing in the terms to say you couldn't withdraw £99,999 and when this money has cleared in your account, cashout some more. This limit also applies to progressive jackpot wins, which isn't great.
You can cashout all or part of your balance from Mr Green to your PayPal, Skrill/Moneybookers, Neteller or ClickandBuy account, from where you can spend it or withdraw it as you please, including as cash from an ATM machine using a prepaid debit card.
You can withdraw up to £1500 per cashout back to your Visa card. There are no fees and the withdrawal will be back on your card within a day - Mr Green advises, "VISA withdrawals are normally received within the day, at the latest the next day."
Note that MasterCard is not a cashout option, even if you've deposited at Mr Green this way.
Withdrawals are free of charge and the money will be available in your bank account within one to three working/banking days. This isn't a bad timeframe for online casino payout to a bank account.
You might be asked to provide identification when you make a cashout, which would include a scan of your driving licence, passport or a utility bill (you will always be asked to cover sensitive information). We haven't ever been asked to provide ID when we've cashed out from Mr Green but it's a standard term and we wouldn't object if asked. You are more likely to be asked to supply ID if you make a large cashout and it's likely you'd only do this once.
Mr Green advise "once your identification documents have been approved, you will benefit from quicker withdrawal processing" which we can't verify, as we've not been asked for ID, but the implication is that if you get verified then you will get paid quicker. You can contact Mr Green's support team to verify your ID and get quicker payments, which also means you wouldn't have to do it again if you make a monster cashout.
Getting in touch with Mr Green Casino
Most processes are automated at Mr Green, meaning it's unlikely you'll have much contact with the casino's support team. Banking (depositing and cashing out) and playing games doesn't require any human interaction but if something goes wrong or you have questions, Mr Green offer local customer support in all countries of operation, including support in English and other languages. Support is available by e-mail, live chat or telephone (020 3510 0870).
Response time when e-mailing Mr Green is generally very good. In all our tests, we received a reply within less than two hours. However, the quality of the replies we received has been inconsistent. Most of our queries were handled without anything to criticise but on occasion the reply we received failed to answer our question in the manner we expected. The worst example was when we asked Mr Green to clarify their reload bonuses when it took an unacceptable four e-mails before we got the correct answer. Still, less than two hours to get every reply has to be commended.
If you lose your login password at any point, you can get a reminder without the need to get in touch with Mr Green's customer service team. There's a 'Forgotten password' link which will send a new password to the e-mail address registered in your account.
You can send an e-mail to Mr Green at firstname.lastname@example.org or by using a contact form on the casino's website.
Members of Mr Green's VIP Lounge can send e-mails to email@example.com. You can also e-mail here to apply for membership if you've deposited £7,000+ or wagered £80,000+ in a two month period.
If you would rather get an instant answer from Mr Green you can use the live chat facility or pick up the phone and call them. Mr Green's support is available between 7am and 1am CET (Central European Time) which is always one hour ahead of British time (GMT), meaning UK players can telephone Mr Green between 6am and 12am on 020 7197 1444. It's a London-based number and not freephone, which we think should be available (and 24/7 too) but having a telephone number to call during most hours is better than none at all, as is the case with some online casinos.
A solid 86% from Casino Beacon, although not everything is perfect. 24 hour customer support is something we'd like to see introduced. We also found a couple of small site problems including broken links but mostly we are impressed with what Mr Green has achieved. Customer support is solid, payouts are fast and the wide choice of games from many different software providers, along with regular fun promotions, will keep you coming back for more. Mr Green is a constantly-improving casino, worth a look even if you think you've seen them all.
