Gambling Mistakes There are some
very common mistakes that many of us make when
gambling online. Most of these mistakes are simple
to avoid but most of us have made them at some
point. Just about
everyone who gambles knows that the odds are
weighted against the player. The same applies
regardless of whether we play online or land-based.
We know this and accept the risk, hoping to strike
lucky and hit a winning streak or win a nice
jackpot. The casino or sportsbook we play at will
always have a slight edge and part of the fun of
gambling is the attempt to overturn those odds and
walk away with a profit. However, many of
us make some damn silly mistakes when gambling and
it does us no favours whatsoever. We take a look at
some of these errors and hopefully, remember not to
make them again in the future. Not
Budgeting This is probably
the worst mistake a gambler can make. It is very
important to start any gambling session with some
kind of budget in mind, ie. set a maximum amount of
money we are prepared to risk - and then stick to
it. It's all too easy to blow through your
£200 bankroll and then decide to give it just
"one more try". The problem is, once you stop
setting a limit and keeping to it, then the sky's
the limit as far as losses go. Set a limit as
high or low as you want but make sure that the
amount you are risking is no more than you can
comfortably afford to lose. And if you lose that
money then do not deposit again until your next
gambling session. And that doesn't mean just five
minutes after the last gaming session. Thinking
positively for a minute, you should also try to set
a limit to how much you want to win. If you've
deposited £100 and managed to build up your
balance to £400 then it's probably a good idea
to withdraw some of it. Take out £200 and
you've still got double your original stake to play
with - and if you do lose that remaining £200
bankroll then who cares? You doubled your original
balance so walk away happy. Playing
Drunk Yeah, we've all
done this. Most of our large losses have come about
as a result of coming back from the pub, smashed
out of our head. Booting up the Online
Casino
and placing some monster-sized bets seems all fun
and games and definitely a brilliant idea when
you've got six pints of Stella inside you but it's
no fun whatsoever when you wake up and have vague
recollections of blowing your debit card balance on
some game you can barely remember. It's no fun
telling your partner about it either. So play sober
- you'll be better equipped to play sensibly and
you're far more likely to know when enough is
enough. Reversing
Cashouts When you make a
withdrawal from an online casino, very often they
will give you a day or two to 'change your mind'
and reverse that withdrawal. You may think the
casino is being very flexible and nice about this
but don't be fooled - it's a very common mistake
players make and you should let your withdrawal
proceed fully. You've done the hard work, beat the
odds and made a profit. Don't be a muppet by
handing it straight back over - you'll kick
yourself if you lose it. |
