Getting Started
Regular online casino players will be aware that most casinos offer both a software download version and a browser-based 'no download' version. As mentioned above, CasinoLuck is one of a small (but quickly growing) number of casinos to focus solely on offering a no download required casino.
Casino Games
Playing at a no download casino does come with its own advantages. It's ideal when playing away from your own computer, for example. The company behind the games, Net Entertainment, have some good ideas and they've clearly put a considerable amount of effort into their product. There are some really nice touches that make you think, "why don't all casinos do it like this?" - for example, CasinoLuck's roulette game displays a list of 'hot' (most hit) and 'cold' (least hit) numbers. You can also see the same percentages stats (hot/cold) for red/black, odd/even, etc.
A nice facility at CasinoLuck is the ability to play all of their games for free. This can be a great way to 'try before you buy' to see if you like the games before risking real money. Simply click the 'try our games for free' image at CasinoLuck's website and you'll be presented with access to their entire collection of casino games - nearly 100 games at last count, including roulette, blackjack, video poker and roughly 50 online slot games.
These days, you'd expect any decent online casino to offer free-play games but it's rare to find a casino that offers all of their games in the free version.
To finish this part of the review with something of an oxymoron, we can report that the games at CasinoLuck do successfully crash. Halfway through playing a hand of blackjack, our connection to the casino stopped working and so the game was frozen. Although initially frightening (especially if playing for high stakes), things quickly became reassuring. We dropped the casino an e-mail and we received a reply within a matter of minutes, explaining that they had a very temporary connection issue. We reconnected to the casino and the hand of blackjack we were playing was reloaded in exactly the same position we left it. This level of fairness and reliability is what players should expect from a quality online casino and although we didn't exactly 'want' the crash, it was still nice to know that things will be okay if something goes horribly wrong with the casino's server or your own internet connection.
Deposit Bonuses
Most online casinos will offer new players a deposit match bonus when making a first deposit and CasinoLuck is no different, although there are a few additional bonuses available which are less common.
Your first real money deposit at CasinoLuck will be matched with a 100% bonus of up to £125 free. For example:
- Deposit £50 and get £50 free (play with £100)
- Deposit £100 and get £100 free (play with £200)
- Deposit £150 and get £125 free (play with £275)
As with all deposit bonuses, there are 'playthrough requirements' which must be met before you can withdraw any winnings earned from this bonus money. For those not familiar with playthrough requirements, we should explain in some detail because there are some highly restrictive conditions which come along for the ride.
At CasinoLuck, the playthrough requirements are as follows: "The bonus and qualifying deposit must be turned over 30 times before any part of the deposit, bonus funds or associated winnings can be withdrawn from the customer's account."
For example, if your first deposit at CasinoLuck is £50 then you'll earn a £50 free money bonus. This gives you a total starting bankroll of £100 and it is this amount that we multiply by 30, giving us a total playthrough requirement of £3,000. This means that before you can withdraw any winnings, you need to place bets totaling £3,000 or more. It doesn't matter whether your bets are winning or losing, they all contribute towards the playthrough requirement.
Things do become a little more difficult when you take into account that not all of the games at CasinoLuck will contribute towards the playthrough requirement. The bonus terms at CasinoLuck state: "For this promotion, not all games contribute the same percentage towards reducing a player's wagering requirement. Wagers made on games contribute 100%, with the following exceptions: Table Games and Video Poker (except Jacks or Better) contribute 20%. All Black Jack games, All Roulettes, All Jacks or Better, Punto Banco, Baccarat, Oasis Poker, Texas Hold'em and Casino Hold´em contribute 0%."
This effectively means you're pretty much limited to playing mostly slot games, scratch cards, bingo and keno with the bonus money if you want any chance of reaching the target. You can play Caribbean Stud Poker, Red Dog, High-Low, HiLo Switch, Let It Ride and Trey Poker which all contribute 20%.
Finally, there's one more restriction to be aware of: "There is a maximum allowed stake per bet until the wagering requirement has been met. This maximum stake is 10% of the bonus amount received."
Using our previous example of a player depositing £50 to receive a £50 free money bonus, this 10% stake restriction means that you will only be able to place bets of up to £5. It does make the playthrough requirement seem a tough target.
We did find one more term worth mentioning. "If a customer withdraws or transfers any of the initial deposit, bonus funds or associated winnings prior to meeting the wagering requirements, the bonus and any associated winnings will be forfeited and deleted from the customer's account."
Friendly, huh? According to this term, any player who processes a withdrawal without realising that they've not yet reached the (enforced) bonus playthrough requirements would lose their bonus and winnings. This is a totally unnecessary term - the withdrawal would be denied by the casino if the playthrough requirement had not been met. In any event, if a withdrawal is not permitted yet then the player should not be in a position to process it via their account. This is hardly genius-required programming here.
It's possible - likely, even - that CasinoLuck would not rely on this term should the event occur but we really don't see the need for it in the first place. It comes across as a dishonest 'small print catch' and we're sure this isn't the casino's intention. Removing this term would be beneficial to both casino and player.
Reload Bonuses
In addition to the initial deposit-match bonus of up to £125 free, for every first deposit you make each month in the future, you will also receive a monthly 50% 'reload bonus' of up to £150 free. When you add up the welcome bonus plus 12 monthly reloads bonuses, this means that you can receive up to £1,925 in free playing money during your first year of membership at CasinoLuck. If bonuses are your thing then nearly two grand in free playing money is going to be worth considering.
Banking
Depositing money and withdrawing your winnings at CasinoLuck is about as easy at it gets. We've made a number of criticisms during the course of this review but fair is fair - the online banking part of CasinoLuck is up there with the very best. The 'help pages' at their website are some of the best information pages we've ever come across at an online casino. As well as displaying a comprehensive list of deposit methods, you can select your country of residence and local currency to generate a specific list of deposit methods available where you live. You'll also be given details of any limits that apply to each banking method (minimum and maximum deposit amounts).
For players living in the UK and playing in UK£, there are many accepted banking methods at CasinoLuck, including:
- Credit Card (MasterCard, Visa)
- Debit Card (Maestro, Switch, Visa Debit, Visa Electron)
- Bank Transfer
- Click2Pay
- EntroPay
- Moneybookers/Skrill
- Neteller
- Ukash
Interestingly, we didn't find any mention of a maximum daily/weekly/monthly withdrawal amount when reading through the terms and conditions at CasinoLuck. However, that doesn't mean a withdrawal limit isn't in place because we found this at the casino's FAQ pages: "The maximum withdrawal amount is £5000 per day."
We're sure it's more of an oversight than anything else but even so, it's a little bit naughty to enforce a limit on how much you can withdraw each day if this limit isn't even mentioned in the casino's terms and conditions.
We're not a huge fan of withdrawal limits but £5000 a day isn't too horrible. Still, we'd be happier to see it removed entirely.
Customer Service
We like to think that we're nothing if not fair here at Casino Beacon and we've made a few criticisms during the course of this review but credit where it's due, the level of customer support we experienced from CasinoLuck was - without exaggeration - bloody good. We tested the casino's support staff on a number of issues and we always, without exception, received a reply within a matter of minutes.
Even more impressive was the quality and level of support we received - we don't know if the customer support is outsourced or in-house but in either case, CasinoLuck are getting excellent value for money. In one example, we e-mailed the casino to find out whether their games worked when using a Mac computer (we'd found conflicting advice regarding this issue on CasinoLuck's website) and the support representative responded with a number of e-mails, going above and beyond the call of duty, confirming the casino games are Mac-friendly and even testing things personally on a Macbook.
The eagerness-to-please and lightning response speed we experienced from CasinoLuck was so impressive that we'll barely even mention the lack of a 'live chat' facility!
CasinoLuck Review - Summary
Of all the online casinos we've reviewed here at Casino Beacon, we found CasinoLuck one of the hardest to rate. Our four star rating is one we stand by but at times we found ourselves bouncing anywhere between three to five stars. There are some really top notch aspects to this casino (customer support and the generous free money bonuses) but there are also some areas that could definitely be improved (friendlier terms and the introduction of a loyalty program).
As things stand, CasinoLuck is easy to recommend but with a few simple changes, they could be even better. There's a definite optimism about this casino and we'll be checking in with them regularly.
